The City of Selkirk Planning Division supports development through a coordinated, in-house approach. This includes planning review, zoning guidance, permitting and application processing, inspections, and approvals such as variances and conditional uses.
Selkirk has long demonstrated a forward-thinking approach to shaping its future. As part of this approach, the City established its Planning Division on May 1, 2022—the City’s first dedicated planning department since 1977. The division aligns land use planning with local priorities, streamlines processes, and improves development outcomes. A full-time planner and building inspector staff the division. The City uses this structure to directly manage land use planning, zoning, and building permits. As a result, it improves consistency, efficiency, and responsiveness to local development needs.
