The Department of Sustainable Economic Development (SED) develops and implements Urban Planning and Economic Development initiatives and actions to develop, attract new investment and business opportunities to the City of Selkirk. SED also leads business retention and expansion activities that focus on maintaining and growing local business resulting in increased economic activity, consumer choice and employment opportunities.

The department prides itself on providing high quality planning services, advanced information and data that is insightful, accurate, relevant, timely, detailed, and trustworthy. Smart investment decisions are supported by good information!

Complimenting and augmenting economic development, the department is responsible for Selkirk’s expanding land bank and oversight of the community’s land planning services. SED strives to deliver exemplary customer service.

Like all City departments, SED pursues its mission in alignment with Selkirk’s long-term strategy, its values and in support of its principles of environmental and economic sustainability.
